Doth I Offend?

America is becoming a very thin skinned nation. It seems that we are becoming regulated by what offends others.

This situation seems to have reached the point where no one is willing to speak out about anything. A most paralyzing form of political correctness, based on the fear that one may be labeled as offensive.

Giving offense; causing displeasure or resentment; displeasing; annoying; as, offensive words. [Webster]

Granted, there is such a thing as right and wrong, but when the wrong are offended by what is right, and the right sit down, or shut up, because they do not wish to offend, everyone suffers.

What if this held true in the past? What if the Republicans sat down and shut up when the Democrats wanted to expand the states that allowed slavery? Or when the Democrats tried to succeed from the union?

The Japanese thought that we would role over and surrender when they bombed Pearl Harbor. What if we did not strike back because we did not wish to offend them?

Ludicrous? Not when you see what people are offended by these days. "Torturing" terrorists. New Yorker pictures. Even using someone's real middle name when speaking about them.

One would think that Americans would be offended, if those who were responsible for extracting information from terrorists, did not use every means possible to do so. Instead, we have a government that is going after the 'good guys' for doing what they were asked to do; save American lives.

The issue of offending goes even deeper than that. It seeps down into our every day lives and creates a fear of speaking out against what we all know to be wrong. This would include a fear of a government that desires our complete surrender and subordination.

The current leaders of our nation perpetuate this fear by creating a means of turning in the offender. Should a person speak out against the policies of those in charge, it is labeled as 'hate speech,' and asked to be turned in by those who where offended. This is also known as the 'Obama's Enemy List." They have also seen fit to create, and advance, "Hate Crime" legislation in an effort to place laws on what one can or can not think.

The tactic here is to quit, arrest,or dismiss, those who put forth dissent. If the offended party can not defend their position with logic, they will claim that the opposing position is offensive, or hateful, to shut it up, or to shut it down.

How many people have, or will die, due to this insane push for political correctness? We know of thirteen so far. Due to the fear of offending Muslims, or the fear that a cry of racism and profiling, would ensue, the military did not take the steps needed to stop the Fort Hood shooter. If they had not been so damn politically correct, maybe the thirteen souls that we lost at Fort Hood would still be alive today.

Had it been a middle aged white guy, with ties to a radical group like the KKK, spewing out anti-American rhetoric, like this guy was, they would have done the right thing and been all over him like a tornado in a trailer park.

Who is to say what is offensive? Should another czar be appointed? The point here is that political correctness is out of hand and that we do not have the right to 'not be offended.' Get over yourselves and your thin skin. It makes you, as well as the rest of us, a little less safe.
